Contrite Wisher
When we think we wish we knew
We wish the wish we shall regret.
If only that could not be so!
Oh, unkind giver of gifts
You gave to me that which I wished.
Now, take back that gift to me you gave.
For the gift I accepted without intent
Shall never bring me much content,
So I must now to you return
That thing I wish I never wished.
Knowing as I know now,
Never more shall I implore
To know the things I knowth not.
For only knowledge the inane lacks,
While joy is theirs to make a mock
Of he who seeks to know it all
Many a sorrow shall befall.
I, when the time has come to tell
Of imaginations incline to dispel,
Wisdom shall not grant much
Joy to frolic until dust.

"If a man will begin with certainties, he shall end in doubt; but if he will be content to begin with doubts he shall end in certainties." -Francis Bacon
This made me think of the saying "ignorance is bliss"...very nice lines in this one Sheldon. I love the oldschool grammer and feel you've lent to it as well.
